History

Lau Jau Studio is a dance studio located in the western area of ​​Mexico City. Created in 1999 by Laura Jáuregui (Mexico, 1982) who moved by the love of dance submerged since the age of 17 in the creation of choreography.

In 2006, Laura, exploiting her creativity and professionalism, founded Lau Jau Studio as a dance space focused on students from 7 to 18 years old in which groups are formed for the creation of choreographies such as Show Dance / Jazz Drill.

Later in 2008, a Jazz and Improv program was implemented in order to increase the level of dance in the studio.

In 2015, two large projects are created that revolutionize the way of transmitting dance in students. Allowing to expose prestigious international dancers such as Brice Mousset (2015), followed by Tyce Diorio (2015), Alex Wong (2016), Derek Mitchell (2016 and 2018), Sheryl Murakami (2016), Jon Rua (2017), Tara- Jean Popowich (2017), Anthony “Kanec” Car (2018), Jaimie Goodwin (2018) and Carlos Neto (2018), in private “Master Classes” for students of the study. Likewise, it was the first Mexican studio to collaborate with the renowned dance academy Broadway Dance Center, annually holding an intensive workshop in New York City, managing to take approximately 25 students annually.

In 2017, Laura Jáuregui, together with Tara-Jean Popowich, create a joint workshop in which Lau Jau Studio and Human First Dancer Second work together to give the students of Lau Jau Studio the opportunity to attend the dance school of Vancouver, Harbor Dance Center, to take not only dance classes, but personal workshops and wellness techniques focused on dance.

Currently the studio offers different dance disciplines such as Music Theater, Contemporary, Showdance, Jazz and Improv., Hip Hop and Tap. It has a special group, “Lau Jau Studio Technique Group”, which is made up of the best students of the studio, who also stand out for their dance, they are recognized for their values, integrity, discipline and perseverance. Lau Jau Studio has created more than 150 choreographies throughout its history, presented in prestigious Mexican forums.
